Welcome! My name is Heidi, and I do—well—a bit of everything:
I've also organized 400-person meetings, worked with vendors, run social media accounts, coordinated expo booths and marketing campaigns, climbed trees, gone boating with alligators, said “Hi” to venomous snakes (I'm not just checking to see if you're paying attention), seen a bird's-eye view of eagles, and so much more.
Why “A Bit and a Bite”? In 2013, I told myself I'd make a website when I figured out a catchy title, and if you have a good book and a good snack, what more do you need?
This site has evolved over the years. At first, I thought I'd create a classic food blog, but I found myself bored of the personal stories and photos ahead of the recipe (this was before the era of the "Jump to Recipe" button).
Then, I thought I'd hybridize short fiction with recipes, but that was difficult to pull off without seeming completely corny (in a bad way). At the moment, I've landed on straightforward recipes from my personal collection, curated lists from my 18,000+ bookmarks, and articles about the topics I've taught myself over the years.
It's also a photo portfolio site, since I'm now a freelance photographer. Right now, I'm just working via word-of-mouth, so there's no contact info on this site at the moment, but who knows what this site will be next week/month/year/minute!
Please, make yourself at home. You're welcome to stay as long as you'd like.
